I’ve wanted to add these for years now (ever since taking down the credits page) but finally got around to adding artist pages! Artist pages consist of the most recent 5 albums from each type of content that were authored by the artist (the next step here, of course, is to add tags for people who are "in" content but for now it’s just authored items).
Twitter and Facebook feeds have been removed from the homepage to make room for a new artist area that "ranks" artists by most contributions. These artist rankings are also on each of the main areas of the site where I have added update feeds too (much like Stop & Go Records a few weeks ago).
A page exists for an artist if the person has content on the site and also has a user account. User accounts are linked to authors by me, so for those of you thinking about creating accounts you'll need to let me know before an artist page is created.
I'm still working some bugs out of the new pages, so if you see anything weird, let me know so I can fix it.

On Tuesday it was announced here and yesterday it was announced here and here, that I would have a big announcement to make today in regards to TheMTA.com. Some of you may already have a little knowledge about the situation, but today I'm officially kicking off the creation of new, original, and fully produced short films.
For some time now, Horseshoe & Hand Grenade Productions has had videos, but nearly all of them are just unscripted nonsense (though amusing). I’m hoping to have the first film ready by the end of March and I am in the process of finishing up the script and getting everything else ready for shooting to begin soon. I don’t want to give too much away now, but the movie will be titled “Who’s the Gift?” and is a parody of “As Seen On TV” style infomercials.
I created a little teaser available here, poking fun at the old home-movie-style videos that have been posted over the years. Enjoy and stay tuned for updates!

Lately it seems like I’ve been changing the navigation on the site more than Facebook—well I think I’ve finally found a style I’m happy with—the top navigation. The tabs are back and now the sub navigation is there with it too. This gives more room for the actual content, where the left hand navigation was wasting a lot of space, particularly on longer pages where it created a lot of white space.
I wanted to get this new navigation out there as soon as possible, so I ran out of time for a couple of old features. The "Recent Comments" list is gone for now and I’m not sure if that’s coming back or not. There are comment notifications available and that is probably more useful anyways, which you can sign up for under the preferences page if you have a user account. The other piece that’s missing, at least temporarily, are the recently updated albums listed under the sections they belong in.
The update feed on the homepage has also been updated. Previously, if there was more than four items in an update, it would only show the first four items. I didn’t like this, so now it just makes smaller thumbnails for updates including more the four items and now all items will be included.

It has been a few years since any music was available through Stop & Go Records. A few tracks from Dead Siren were available in a download-only format that didn’t allow for comments or have an in-browser music player.
In December, Dead Siren’s Present Face holiday EP was re-released for its five year anniversary. With that came the launch of Stop & Go Radio (version 1). Stop & Go Radio runs using the Flash based XSPF Web Music Player, which is open for public use and since I didn’t have the time or knowledge to create7 my own music player, I decided to to use this bit of software. Eventually I would like to have a nicer web player but for now this one works fine.
Currently, each song will load on its own page with its own player. This can be a little inconvinient if you want to listen to multiple songs at once but good if you want to comment on individual songs. Regardless, I am working on a way to set up playlists. The music player does however allow you to both listen to songs while streaming them from the web or if you right-click (control+click for Apple users) on a song in the music player you can choose to download a track to play from your favorite portable music player or desktop media player.

Starting today there is a new option available when logging into the site with a user account. Now, instead of logging in every time you come to the site (or rather, close your browser and return), you can be "remembered." The option will be activated if you check the box next to the word "Remember" above the login button when logging in. It will then keep you logged into the site for 30 days and should not have to log in for that period of time as long as you are on the same computer/browser. You must have cookies enabled on your browser in order for this to work, but they are enabled by default so unless you have changed that setting, there is nothing to worry about.

Today a new feature to people with user accounts is available. Now users can receive e-mail alerts when certain actions are taken on the site. Currently, there are two types of alerts available with several more on the way. The two types of alerts available now are 1) an e-mail whenever someone leaves a comment and 2) only receive an e-mail when someone comments on an item after you have. These are obviously mutually exclusive alerts, but more options will be available when I get more time. The default alert for all existing users and any new users is to receive the second type of alert, an e-mail whenever someone responds to a comment of theirs. These options can be changed in the "Manage Communications" section on the preferences page (available to people who are logged in).

Recently, my website was moved from one provider to another due to one purchasing the other. They really botched the whole thing and it left a bunch of things messed up. I believe I am still working out some of the kinks. It isn’t too important, but a lot of the "Last Updated" and blog entry times from the month of June are inaccurate. From now on, everything should be good.

Today is the debut of two new features to the site. One of the new features is called the "Journals" section. This section is a new type of blog centered around documenting events for things like road trips. In addition to taking lots and lots of photos for Road Trip 2008 as you may have seen, we kept a journal of the road trip and I am just sort of putting them all out there (note: that in the update feed thing on the main page, it is showing the most recent entry only, but if you click on the title and scroll to the bottom you can read the entire thing in order). Now that I have this all set up, I should be able to update on the run from either my phone or a computer for some real-time blogging. The first of these excursions will be starting this Wednesday through Monday when I will be going to Bonnaroo with my friends Andre and Aimee and meeting a whole slew of people. You can follow the adventures here on that journal and I will also be updating my Twitter and eventually posting (presumably) tons of pictures.
The other big news is that I have added RSS feeds to the blogs and journals. You can subscribe to these feeds by heading over to either section and clicking on subscribe next to the blog/journal’s title. I have tested the feeds using Firefox Live Bookmarks, Google Reader, Opera Mini, and Internet Explorer 8, please let me know if you have any problems with it and I’ll see what I can do about it. For those who don’t know what an RSS feed is, you can check it out on Wikipedia. They are really useful tools for checking blogs, news, or whatever.

Feedback on bugs, functionality, style, etc. is greatly appreciated and can be sent to me through the comments section of a page, email to themta@themta.com, Facebook, Twitter, or whatever. I can’t catch everything myself, so thank you to anyone who has given me any feedback already.
A few that have been fixed:
- Item navigation (next, previous, last, first) was having problems going backwards and forwards depending on if the item had been added sequentially, the buttons should work properly now.
- When logging out of a user account, a person would be taken out of whatever item or album they were looking at and brought back to the album listing. Additionally, that person was not actually being logged out. Now a person is actually being logged out and remain on the page they were on.
- The site was down for several hours late last night/early this morning because of a bug with adding comments.
Just a little update on those things, if anyone had noticed them.

It has been a long time since I've updated, and I sound a little bit like a broken record, but I promise there should be a lot more content coming in soon and regularly. I have spent a lot of time over the past few months working on the programming side of the site, getting it ready for some new features you will see being rolled out over time and to improve speed and ease-of-use. This work I have been doing will also mitigate the amount of effort I need to put in to add new content, so that means more stuff, faster.
There are some changes you may have noticed on the front-end of the site that I have been making all along. The format of the site is a little cleaner and less crowded. The item pages (photos, movies, etc) have been changes around to look cleaner as well. One big aesthetic change added today is the new format for showing recent updates. The new style is partially inspired by an older version of the Facebook feed and I plan on improving on that as well.
Speaking of social networking... You can help keep up-to-date with and support TheMTA.com by becoming a fan on the official Facebook page. You can also follow me on Twitter where I write about whatever.

The navigation for all items was changed a few days ago. I did this because I thought the old navigation which used controls similar to a CD/DVD/MP3/whatever player just looked kind of crummy. They have been changed to be a bit more "webby" and I think it looks a lot better. the only still kind of awkward part about them is that you have to click directly on the text, the entire box that contains the text is not yet clickable.
Another change to navigation, which so far has only been implemented for photos, is something I'm making up right now called "album pagination" which basically means that now instead of huge albums just taking forever to load and all the thumbnails being displayed at once. By default each page now displays 21 thumbnails or 3x7 thumbnails. Eventually this will become adjustable and available on all other sections. I finished this update with photos first because its really the only section with truly large albums.
So as you may have noticed I have been adding a lot more content, specifically photos, recently. I am trying to get caught up with them, although I still have a long way to go but hopefully I can get to work on a variety of new content once I'm finished. I am working on several ways to make the site easier to update which will lead to more content. I have already created an application that allows me to upload photos much easier than I ever could before and I plan to make some new ones to add blog entries faster and automate some other content adding.

Well, its been about a month with no real updates. I'm still finishing up with school but in less than a month I should be free to get a lot more work done.
Anyways... I finally got around to changing the name of the generic sounding "MTA Gallery" to something more fitting of TheMTA.com, Tar & Feather Gallery. I've also made a few modifications to the schema of things in that section. The formerly named "Art" section is now called "Drawings" where you may also notice some albums are missing. This is because they are being moved into a new section. Additionally, the "Pictures" section is now titled "Photos" to more adequately describe the items in it.
I also made adjustments to how albums are listed in all sections. Previously they went on something like and album number based on when the album was added to the web site. Now albums are listed by the date they were last updated.

It has taken me long enough but Long & Short Publications is now open! Right now, not too much new content has been added (really just this blog entry) but I decided to move the webmaster's blog here to kick off the "publications." In the near future I'll be starting a sports blog and maybe some other ones to supplement this one and if other people want to have blogs here too, we can talk. Coming soon will be the Journals section which will be used for various "Road Journals" I have compiled. Currently there are two of these in the works, one for each of the last two years where, along with friends, I've driven from Massachusetts to Florida and back. I have a few other plans for what articles can be included but I feel like that is too far away to even speculate right now just because I have a problem with promising new content by a certain date and then falling short.
In some other news, I will also be renaming and re-branding the MTA Gallery. I already have a new name and logo designed but I have to get around to making a new color scheme and also moving all those files around (new section coming there!). That's all for now, as usual please send me comments by checking out the contact us page.

Not much news to report right now. I've been pretty busy with school and such but I hope to get a lot more stuff rolling soon. Still have a bunch more videos to put up, three photo albums I need to get finished up and a couple of journals I need to get ready for the actual debut of Long & Short Publications.
I would like to report that TheMTA.com now has a Facebook page, its located at http://www.facebook.com/pages/TheMTAcom/9975320979.

Before I get into what's new, I'd like to thank everyone who registered an account and completed the questionnaire I set up. It should help me with my research paper which will be posted here when completed. The questionnaire has been removed but people who have yet to register accounts obviously still can.
Now onto the new stuff...
Cutting right to the chase, comments are now working on all pictures, art, videos and cartoons! You'll need to be logged into the site in order to leave comments.
In some slightly less significant but still important news, avatar functionality works now! People who signed up for accounts up until now have been stuck with the blank avatar as I did not have time to get that implemented correctly at launch. For those of you with accounts (or soon to have them) you can click on "Preferences" and upload an image. Avatars will be automatically shrunk to fit inside a 75x75 pixel block so you'll want to keep that in mind. Additionally, animated images and transparency in images is still not supported but you can upload in JPG, GIF or PNG.
In a bit of technical news, the Cascading Style Sheets aka CSS for the site have been redesigned and refitted. I've eliminated most "tables" from the site so now pages should load faster and hopefully more uniformly. This also allows you (the user) to more fluidly increase/decrease the size of the text on the page, you can do this by pressing "ctrl and +/-" (or "Apple and +/-" on a Mac). One side effect of the new style sheets is that pages may seem a little cramped if shrunk at all and I know some people have their browsers to default at minus one font size, so if the page looks cramped, you may want to try increasing the font size a bit.
Finally, in some unimportant news, the "Links" page is no more. I have many boring reasons I got rid of it, but it should be enough just to know its gone.

I created TheMTA.com for mainly two reasons. The first was to share with the world some of the adventures and good times I've had with friends, pictures, music, all that stuff. The other reason is that have always been interested in web design and have created a variety of web sites in the past in some free venues such as The Gamer Site on Angelfire. However, I wanted to learn how to do more complicated things and had to move onto a real server. On this site I can use PHP and databases in addition to HTML and CSS to make a much more complex web site.
In the spirit of this educational purpose, I am opening a new section called "Research." This section will be used to share things I have learned or created with the world that isn't seen on the surface but goes into how I've designed TheMTA.com. Well, this probably seems boring to most people, so I'll cut to the chase. User account registration is now open! The catch is, commenting and other features have not been activated yet. I want to do some more testing on the registration form, but I need people to help me out. The whole thing works, but I want to see how well it works and you can help me by going to the research page and following the instructions.

Long time no see.
First off, happy New Year! I have been busy getting some school work done and studying for my final so I've had to take a couple weeks away from updating. However, at long last pictures from when I went to Las Vegas last August with Andre, Triggs, Luke and Chris. I also took another picture from that beautiful album for a cover image and I have to tell you I love a good pun no matter how lame it sounds. My next order of business will be getting through the pile of pictures I took on my road trip to Florida this past March.
In other news, User Accounts are very close to being ready. I am in the testing phase right now, making sure everything is working right and it should be open to the public soon, especually with school work out of the way for a x-mas break.
As you may also have noticed, videos have made their return. The reason they went down in the first place is that I couldn't find and easy and free way to stream them and downloading wasn't a very good option because of how complicated this would have been and bandwidth and all that stuff. So instead I went with using YouTube. I was reluctant to do so for a while because I didn't want to give up my videos, but as it turns out, you don't surrender your ownership rights to videos on YouTube, sothat became the obvious choice at least until a better option arises.

I post this entry because there are a few things (I think) worth noting.
- The site news page is gone, and I put all the old entries of that into this blog thing, chronologically of course. It seemed rather obsolete with me posting in this now.
- Short Films, Videos and Movies have all been merged into the Movies section in HHGP for simplicity's sake. Although in a bit of irony, I've taken the section down entirely for the time being/until I can get a viable streaming option since all the movies are so big (and in .mov format, ugh). The Cartoons page has also been taken down, but I"m optimistic that will be back shortly.
- The Bio and Journal pages are gone from the MTA Gallery now. They never really fit in anyways and the Journal page lacked any content.
- The code for Pictures and Art have been fixed up to work more properly and faster. There have been a lot of other coding changes to the entire site that have been happening recently and it should all help to bring more updates to the site and also improve performance.
- As you may have noticed, the cover image hasn't changed in a while, and that is because starting in November it will become a monthly feature.
Well thats a pretty good wrap up of what I've done this week. Not too many changes from what people should be used to but its all working towards a greater cause, more content.

I have put a lot of work recently into removing old pages/files, fixing links and changing a lot of the background code to work better and with the new features in the site. Breadcrumbs are broken on a bunch of Stop & Go pages and Horseshoe & Hand Grenade pages but I'm working on that. Many of the pages just need to be brought up to par with some of the newer ones.
Additionally, I am trying to get the Stop & Go band pages with a little more content. For now that just includes getting them on some music networks, but expect big things from those pages.
All that being said, I'm still working on user registration/commenting but getting all the pages up to date is a necessary step in getting all of that working.

While it may not look like much, but I've done a lot since my last BlogEntry. User accounts are not far away, right now the system for it mostly works but I have to finish creating the "Registration" page and add some functionality for uploading avatars and some other little but necessary things. I've also been going through a lot of the code getting it ready to handle the new functionality. The first of many functions that user accounts will allow you to have it the ability to leave comments on things. As the project moves forward I will be adding a rating system, preferences, and a lot more.
Additionally I've fixed up the code I use to make the Art and Pictures sections so they should work smoother and faster now. I'm also going to be getting around to a lot more content now with videos coming back soon and some picture albums I've been preparing. I even found some lost art stuff from digging around my computer so I'll be putting that up sometime too.
Lastly, I've deleted a lot of old versions of pages, so maybe if you bookmarked some stuff those links won't work anymore. You can either browse through to find them again or if you are so inclined, you could look at the URL of the bookmark and the first number should be the album and the second number in the URL is the item number and you can just plug that info into the new URLs (by going through that nav bar on the left).

Welcome to my brand new blog (I guess that's what it is). I'll be using this as my new outlet for news about the whole web site. I used to make little BlogEntrys in the updates section but I think this will be a little more fun and a little less confusing plus it gives me more space. People can also live without me talking about improvements, so I can stick it on the bottom of the page instead. Also, a thanks goes to Laura for my blog avatar.
So for starters, I'm sorry for not being able to make a real update since November! But I swear I've been working. TheMTA has gone through some major stylesheet, HTML, and server side (PHP & SQL) code overhauls. As a result, pages should be loading faster and look nicer. Updates are a little more visual and the "features" section is now "cover images" and is in a more improved gallery. I've also re-opened most of the previously "under construction" picture albums.
Finally the interesting stuff, what's coming soon. Its possible (maybe likely?) you've seen the early workings of user accounts, ratings and comments. These are actually almost entirely implemented but before they go "live" I need to finish setting up account registration. For now the main benefits of registering an account with TheMTA will be the ability to leave comments and rate things but soon there will be more interactive features.
Some other new policies I'm implementing (on myself?) is based upon the change in format I'm making to the site. In the beginning it was just TheMTA Gallery or at that point known simply as TheMTA and that was the majority of the content. Then i added The Gamer Site and Stop & Go Records. Shortly after that came Horseshoe and Hand Grenade productions. More recently has come the end of The Gamer Site and very recently is the creation of Long & Short Publications. The four current sections represent what I can do in still images (Gallery), music (SGR), video (HHGP) and print (LSP). Currently the set up makes MTA Gallery look like the main section with the others as supplemental pages, but I plan on changing it so there is a main TheMTA home and then the other four sections are equal but separate areas (however they include a lot of interacting). As a result from this I will no longer be making formal weekly updates. Instead updates will come as I decide to add content and the upgraded updates section (see above) will just report the 10 most recent updates. I hope this will actually let me get content out faster.
Phew, that was a lot but we needed to play catch up.

Well there goes five months without an update. I was either busy, or working, or tired, or doing something else for most of that time, and I just couldn't get around to updates. I'm still working on adding user accounts in which I'm making an attempt to make as robust as possible, and this is what is causing it to take so long.
For now however I have some other news. First of all, The Gamer Site will no longer be a main section of TheMTA.com. I'm not removing it from the "World Wide Web" quite yet, so you can still check out the mainly outdated information at http://www.themta.com/tgs/ but it is officially done being updated (maybe some maintenance but that's it) and its been removed from the tabs at the top of the page. I'm also changing the Art and Pictures section of TheMTA into its own area, which for now will be known as the MTA Gallery. There is also a new section replacing The Gamer Site which will also have a temporary name of MTA Publications which will hold text-based-fun such as; articles, reviews, stories or just whatever. I haven't decided on color schemes or names for the new sections yet but those will come eventually.
I'm currently reading a book (gasp!) on cascading style sheets (CSS) for designing web pages. I already use CSS on all the pages here, but I'm learning far more than I knew before so after I get the user accounts up and running, there will be some new visual enhancements including better coloring, more effects and some compatibility fixes.
Finally, I do have a lot of things I can use to do updates with and hopefully I can start bringing those out rapid fire. Thank you for still paying attention to TheMTA.com through these days of abandonment.

With regard to registering an account for the site, this has been put on hold for now (might be obvious because I stopped talking about it). I felt it was necessary for me to make the changes to the art and pictures sections first and I still need to re-do the videos and archives sections along with making some changes to SGR, HHGP, TGS, and the generic pages like site news, credits, etc. before I finish making accounts available for technical reasons and also to enhance the use of the accounts.
I'm working on several other enhancements at the same time, which is why it may seem like its taking a while but I want to do it right and hopefully when a lot of the major stuff is done, I'll be able to make more features available in a shorter amount of time. The work I am doing should also make it easier to maintain the site and spend more time on the actual content.
Thanks for the patience, although I feel that most people don't actually care, but it excites me and hopefully in the end it will be worth all my effort.

Well the new format is mostly up. I wanted to put it up in phases rather than in one big change so that I can fix any flaws before the real major changes happen. It will be a little more time before its all the way done, but I like where it is going.
You may notice that a couple of sections are gone now. Well, the archives section still exists, but I just didn't see a need for it to be in the navigation bar or on the main page. Instead it has just been broken down so each section manages its own archives. The concerts and legends sections may return in a different capacity sometime.
Also, sadly breadcrumbs aren't working again, but I plan to fix that very soon, probably before the next update. Finally, man of the pictures pages won't work correctly right away. I plan to fix this over the next day or too also.
These are some big changes to the web site and its just going to take some time, but in the end it will all be worth it and will hopefully mean a lot less maintenance time so I can concentrate more on content. Please e-mail me your comments on anything or any suggestions because the input will help me out.

I know I keep saying sorry for not consistently updating, but this time I mean it. I've had a bunch of pictures I've been meaning to put up for a while. It’s been hard because when I was living at home my round trip commute to work was just about 3 hours. The when I got back to school I was pretty busy and on top of being busy I was waiting to get my new computer in the mail. Now I have the computer but I haven't had the time to install all the programs I need to do everything.
I have, however, done a considerable amount of work behind the scenes. I've spent a lot of time in the last two weeks fixing any broken links or images on the site, and there were a lot more than I expected, but I found them all. Also, I had to add tabs to The Gamer Site so I could move forward with the database. Those tabs aren't really done yet, but they are on all the pages. I also have been putting a lot of effort into setting up a very useful and intricate database to help improve how the site works and to add many new features, to be announced sometime soon.
I can hopefully start up with regular updates again, every Wednesday. Thanks for the patience as I still have been getting a lot of visits throughout the summer.

I've implemented this obviously new format to the web site. Only TheMTA gray format pages have been changed, I'll be getting around to the other sections eventually. I've only done a couple of the picture pages to have the new format; eventually they will all have the new format. I plan on doing it in a non-big update format, so basically slowly over the next few weeks. Printer friendly versions of pages will be unavailable for a short while as I try and implement them a new way. The new format includes a "breadcrumb" trail to help ease navigation around the site. This new feature is not completely implemented yet, but that should be done soonish.

I've completly revamped the code on the entire web site and every section. The HTML for the side bars and all of the stylesheets have been fixed to meet with current coding standards. The old code was inadequete and would sometimes cause errors depending on the browser. I'm particularly proud of how the stylesheets came out because it had some serious problems with FireFox but fret not, its all better now. I moved a bunch of pages around so it makes a litte more sense too. The code fixing also has put the entire site to the point where all the pages are in PHP format and have a more standardized design, which will hopefully make it easier to navigate.
As can be seen, Earth Alliance Council and Mega Force Clan have been removed from the side bar. They may or may not come back someday. I just have not had the time to deal with either of them, as I already don't have enough time for the other sections such as The Gamer Site.
The pictures and videos sections on TheMTA have been split into multiple pages because they were just getting to be too long.

It has come to my attention that certain people find my web site offensive. If you can't handle my freedom of expression then you may as well leave. There is no porn on this website, and there is nothing illegal on this web site. There are a few suggestive pictures, and some vulgar language, but nothing that should cause people to avoid looking at anything. I have however made some small adjustments to the structure of the pictures, section to include an indication on whether a particular page contains something that could be considered offensive. Also, I have edited some pictures to remove the faces of several people who may have too much pride in themselves to be on my web site. For those who are followers of the Bible, remember that pride is one of those seven deadly sins. Just something to ponder. If you don't care about the "offensiveness" level, then just ignore this message.
I would also like to state that is a very shallow gesture to hid behind someone else, or to have too much pride in your own standing with other people. If you have a problem with something I do, feel free to send e-mails. I am also open to talking in person or over the phone with anyone. It is a ridiculous idea that if someone has a problem with me, or the way me web site is presented that they are unable to function as adults and confront me. I'm 19, and from what I understand, the current group of individuals that has a problem with me is of a significantly higher age bracket, and should have developed a little better communications skills than I have witnessed.
This website is a place for my expression, a presentation of my life, and a business. If you do not like it or wish to associate yourselves with it, then by all means, do not come here. I know that you need to put effort into actually visiting this web site, it isn't forced upon you. I'll end with one last question, why should men much older than me be looking my name up online anyways, or was it you were all just hoping this was a porn site?
